HUSTLERS
Janet's TAKE: #HustlersMovie tells the messed-up story about a messed-up female collaboration (I can't really call it a friendship.) of exotic dancers trying to survive the financial crisis of 2008. Grade/C
Constance Wu and Jennifer Lopez do their best with
primo performances to carry this film but there isn't quite enough of a tale for a full-length feature film, thus resulting in some repetitive titillating action that was really starting to get old by the end. With little character development, you don't care about most of the players - especially not any of the men. This is truly a woman's slant on the situation.
Directed by Lorene Scafaria
Starring Constance Wu, Jennifer Lopez, Julia Stiles, Keke Palmer, Lili Reinhart, with Mercedes Ruehl, and Cardi B.
