Janet's TAKE: #BladeRunner2049 has masterfully crafted visuals and music with solid performances, but goes on too long. B

It felt like
a mediocre sci-fi plot ... until taking an interesting twist. Not having seen the original, I still found the story easy to follow.

Synopsis:
Thirty years after the events of the first film, a new blade runner, LAPD Officer K (Ryan Gosling), unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos. K’s discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for 30 years. Janet's TAKE: #2heartsthefilm depicts a based-on-a-true story in an unimaginative and formulaic way. While the effort is commendable in its message of sacrifice and service, it is entirely predictable. The main character (narrator) tries too hard to be charming and this feels forced. Janet's TAKE: Even though #Nomadland is a sad commentary on the effects of the recession in the last decade, it still brings an uplifting message of camaraderie, support and friendship for the nomadic lifestyle that exists in America today. Grade/A- Frances McDormand and David Strathairn expertly portray their characters alongside Chloé Zhao's portraiture-style direction that includes professional actors working with real people playing themselves and telling their stories. THE BROKEN HEARTS GALLERY movie review

Janet's TAKE: #BrokenHeartsGallery is a sweet and mostly engaging twenty-something romantic comedy.  You know exactly where it's going, but getting there with talented star Geraldine Viswanathan is the best part of this journey.  An optimistic date movie that is just what's needed today. The supporting cast is perfect for this genre and it's nice to see Bernadette Peters back on the screen.
